I came up with a fictitious and abstract landscape for the project. Using the AI programme Midjourney, I wanted to generate images that look like painted oil paintings, in which details such as surface structure or brushwork can be seen. I used a relatively simple prompt to do this. The generated images had dynamic shapes and colours. However, image editing was necessary to achieve a satisfactory result. As is so often the case, I then alienated the images again, reduced the colours and finally animated them.

The subtle and surprising animation brings the images to life. However, they are also convincing without animation, as the pictures have smooth and matt areas and colour spots and colour gradients are recognisable. All the works are created with the same colour palette. As a result, the series appears very independent and the works harmonise with each other. Viewers really do have the feeling that they are in a nature park. In this case, in the valley of Magua.

All picture titles, all mountain and lake names are fictitious. Nevertheless, it should be mentioned that the title ‘El río de los 9 colores’, for example, is based on the natural wonder ‘El río de los 7 colores’. It is an allusion and a failed attempt to use artificial intelligence to trump nature and make it even more beautiful.
